LAS SANTAS RELIQUIAS

Posiblemente una de las reliquias más extraordinarias del planeta sea el suspiro de San José, que se encuentra en una botella depositada por un supuesto ángel en una iglesia de Blois y conservada en el Sancta Santorum del Vaticano. Animado por las fantásticas historias que acompañan a las santas reliquias desde tiempos inmemoriales, decidí recorrer el planeta casi en su totalidad persiguiendo esos objetos. Diferentes viajes e investigaciones que han durado algunos años me han llevado a su localización y posterior catalogación, amén del obligado saqueo. Mi obsesión por coleccionar el mayor número de reliquias diseminadas por todo el mundo no es comparable con el número de piezas que podemos encontrar en el Escorial, donde el monarca Felipe II recopiló hasta su muerte todo tipo de artefactos “sagrados”. Su obsesión fue mayor y sus medios para obtener las reliquias infinitos e ilimitados.

Mi modesta colección suma tres objetos, suficiente como para poner en marcha un nuevo proyecto artístico-comercial y ofrecer al espectador la posibilidad de incluir, en su salón, una reliquia.

Procedencia y contenido de las tres reliquias.

Nuestra historia se sitúa en el siglo XV, en un lugar de la Ribeira Sacra, durante las revueltas Irmandiñas y la destrucción parcial de la fortaleza de Castro Caldelas. Un fraile involucrado en la batalla consiguió hacerse con las reliquias que allí, secretamente, custodiaba el conde. Se trataban de unas tinajas donde se guardaban los eructos que durante la última cena expelieron los apóstoles Santiago, Judas y Juan. Los recipientes desaparecieron y finalmente a principios del 2015 aparecieron en una casa semidestruida perteneciente a mi familia y localizada en una pequeña aldea de la zona. Acabaron en mis manos y finalmente he decidido envasar su contenido en otro formato más actual y listo para ser expuesto. De esta forma he podido conformar esta nueva colección donde el espectador-comprador tiene la posibilidad de acercarse a uno de los momentos históricos más importantes de la humanidad.

Encouraged by the fantastic stories that have accompanied the holy relics since time immemorial, I decided to tour the planet almost entirely in pursuit of these objects. Different trips and investigations that have lasted some years have led me to its location and subsequent cataloging, in addition to the forced looting. My obsession with collecting the largest number of relics scattered around the world is not comparable to the number of pieces that we can find in the Escorial, where the monarch Felipe II collected until his death all kinds of «sacred» artifacts. His obsession was greater and his means of obtaining infinite and limitless relics.

My modest collection has three objects, enough to launch a new artistic-commercial project and offer the viewer the possibility of including a relic in his living room.

Origin and content of the three relics.

Our history is set in the fifteenth century, in a place in the Ribeira Sacra, during the Irmandiñas revolts and the partial destruction of the Castro Caldelas fortress. A friar involved in the battle managed to get hold of the relics that the count secretly guarded there. They were some jars where the burps were kept that during the last supper the apostles James, Judas and John expelled. The containers disappeared and finally in early 2015 they appeared in a semi-destroyed house belonging to my family and located in a small village in the area. They ended up in my hands and I have finally decided to package their content in a more current format and ready to be exposed. In this way I have been able to create this new collection where the viewer-buyer has the possibility of approaching one of the most important historical moments of humanity.
